Over the weekend Capitol Hill Village's Memory Stu Over the weekend Capitol Hill Village's Memory Studio program participated in the 2025 Capitol Hill Art Walk. Which recorded over 160 artists all over the Hill. It was a great day to share the work of our Memory Studio artists and be in community together. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!One of our artists shared: "Art, that’s my life now! Capitol Hill Village recently hosted a community h Capitol Hill Village recently hosted a community health fair to help bring health and wellness resources to our members and it was a hit!Vendors included: Innergy, Seabury Resources for Aging, Sorogi Wellness Programs, Shaklee Natural Beauty, the DC Center for Independent Living, The Leadership Council for Healthy Communities, The National Federation for the Blind, UnitedHealthcare, Vision Zero DC (District Department of Transportation), and Wake the 8 DC.We are also grateful for Giant Pharmacy which was on site to provide vaccines. We will hear from Astrid de Vries, founder of Kids Connection Haiti (KCH).Having lived in Haiti and worked in an orphanage there, Astrid de Vries was deeply concerned about the future of the young people when they leave the facility. Because of this Astrid founded KCH in 2019 to support young adults ages 18 to 25 who grew up in extreme poverty.KCH welcomes all and provides support to help young adults receive tools they need to create stable and sustainable futures. Capitol Hill Village took to the streets earlier t Capitol Hill Village took to the streets earlier this month for Open Streets! We wanted to hear from YOU about aging. We asked "What do you think your 70s will be like?" and "What are your 70s like?" and we got a LOT of answers.We've picked a few responses to share:
❓ Jack, age 7 said: My 70s will mean 80 vacations a year.
❓Nicole, age 22 said: My 70s will be exciting, rewarding, and full of love.
❓Anonymous, age 50 said: My 70s will include traveling and enjoying my family, being crafty, teaching.❓Charlie, age 70 and 1/4th said: I don't know how my 70s are, I am new at this!
❓Beth, age 74 said: I still feel like I'm 20!

CHV's Memory Studio, a program for folks with cogn CHV's Memory Studio, a program for folks with cognitive decline and their care partners to connect and express themselves, recently took a trip to the Phillips Collection.One participant shared that "I liked the experience because of the connections we made between Vivian Browne's art, history, and movement. We had a fantastic tour guide as well."The program began in November 2024. The Memory Studio program is open to anyone, you do not have to be a CHV member to participate. Summer is flying by! So fast that we forgot to sha Summer is flying by! So fast that we forgot to share some photos from the 2025 Genderson Fund Wine Reception that took place in early June. Over 60 people joined us on a wonderful sunny afternoon and enjoyed a selection of fine wines, hors d’oeuvres, beautiful flower arrangements, and the musical talents of former CHV Care Services intern, Dominic Elliott.This year we surpassed expectations and raised close to $28,000! The Genderson Fund helps us ensure that Capitol Hill Village can support any Capitol Hill residents who want to be part of the Village.
