THIS IS A CROSSBAR

History and Biography Book Group

Wednesday, May 03 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30
At the home of Judy May, 609 4th Street NE, eight steps to front door.

Ron Chernow`s 2005 biography "Alexander Hamilton" brought one of the principal designers of the American federal government to the attention of the general public. Born of unmarried parents in the Caribbean island of Nevis, Alexander Hamilton became a successful lawyer, brilliant soldier during the Revolutionary War, and first Secretary of the Treasury. In fierce competition with Thomas Jefferson over the shape and direction of the nation, he prevailed in his vision of an industrial economy with a national bank and strong central government.
